“Because of you, I know the path of life, as I taste the fullness of joy in your presence. At your right side I experience divine pleasures forevermore!”

Meet Janine.

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Janine, and I am an artist on an adventure to frame nature as unbound emotional landscapes. Working in thin and thick impasto layers, contrasting tone, color and wild energetic marks or brushwork, I capture that stunning moment when nature steals my breath.

I was born an artist with a wild imagination and creative mind on a farm in South Africa. Due to early trauma and losses my young self was forced to grow up fast. My art and creative journey lay dormant for 38 years as I dealt with traumatic losses, pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy, immigrating to Canada and raising a family.  A profound encounter with Jesus unlocked my grieving heart, enabling me to pick up a brush and make those marks of color that are authentically true to who I am meant to be.

The healing through my art allows me to lay down the weight and pressures of adulthood and experience freedom of play, and explore without limits. At the same time, my inner child is being handed back her childhood—given total permission to stop trying to protect, carry, and adult, and simply be free to play without limits. I value this process of learning, growing and discovery  for it gives me great joy to be true to who God created me to be once more.

The foreground features green and yellow colors representing grass or hills, with dark and bright streaks adding depth. The artist's signature is in the lower right corner.

Theme

The overarching theme of my work is Reclaimed Wonder: The Energetic Integration of Self and Nature.

My work bridges the gap between the emotional release of inner-child play and the awe-inspiring scale of Creation. It is not just about painting what my eyes see or my heart feel; it is about using the canvas as a playground to rediscover freedom, joy, and creativity.

My artistic growth is deeply tied to Jesus, my life source, and other creators who prioritize emotional truth and evolution. I am heavily influenced by Vincent van Gogh’s expressive, emotional use of color, line, and texture, as well as Pablo Picasso’s restless drive to evolve across movements. Conceptually, I draw inspiration from narrative-driven music and the profound humanity, humility, and leadership of figures like Nelson Mandela.

Ultimately, my goal is to invite you to step inside the precise moment where creation takes one's breath away.

"There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people." — Vincent van Gogh
